Dust Control for Material Processing
Dust Control for Material Processing in Mining – Aboveground Mining
Aboveground material processing generates significant dust, which must be controlled to protect workers, meet regulatory standards, and maintain operational efficiency. Effective dust control not only improves safety but can also recover valuable material, creating a secondary revenue stream. Reclaimed product can be reintroduced into processing or sold as a fine product for the construction industry.
Managing Dust in Crushing Operations
Crushing operations produce large volumes of airborne dust, creating hazardous working conditions. Controlling dust at the source is essential to:
- Protect worker health and safety
- Prevent excessive wear and tear on machinery
- Ensure compliance with government regulations
By reducing dust, mining operations maintain a safer working environment, extend equipment lifespan, and reduce downtime.
Grydale Dust Control Solutions
Grydale designs and manufactures a complete range of fixed and mobile industrial dust collectors for surface mining and material processing operations. Our mobile dust collectors are available with airflow capacities from 6 m³/s (12,000 CFM) to 60 m³/s (125,000 CFM).
Our engineering team and consultants assist in selecting the right dust collector for your site, taking into account application requirements, airflow needs, and environmental conditions.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Drivers
The demand for effective dust control solutions is increasing globally as workplace safety regulations tighten. Hazardous dusts, including asbestos, crystalline silica, hard metals, aluminum, fertilizer dust, cotton, hay, straw, and grains, can lead to serious occupational diseases. Silicosis, caused by inhaling silica dust, remains the most common occupational lung disease worldwide, often compared to modern asbestos exposure.
Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) regulate safe dust levels, and mining operators must comply with these limits to protect workers and meet Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) legislation.
Why Hire from Grydale? Mobile Dust Collection Equipment.
Mobile Dust Collector Rental – Flexible Solutions
Grydale operates one of Australia’s largest fleets of mobile dust collectors, available for purchase or short, medium, and long-term rental. Rental units provide an effective solution for:
- Temporary works or projects
- Maintaining operations while permanent dust collectors are being installed or serviced
- Supplementing ventilation and dust control during high-production periods
Additional benefits of Grydale rental units:
- Full on-site operator familiarisation training
- Dry and wet hire arrangements available
- Scheduled and preventative maintenance to ensure units arrive ready to work
Large Volume Mobile Dust Collectors – Key Benefits
Large-capacity dust collectors can replace multiple smaller units, providing operational and cost advantages:
- Simplified setup on site
- Reduced space requirements
- Lower freight and logistics costs
- Reduced operating and maintenance costs of a single machine
Using multiple smaller units often requires subdividing the working area, installing multiple duct runs, and dedicating additional personnel for operation and maintenance. Large mobile dust collectors simplify operations while maintaining high efficiency.
Why Grydale Dust Control Works
Grydale’s dust collectors are designed to capture airborne dust at the source, protect workers, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations. By investing in mobile or fixed dust control solutions, mining operations can:
- Minimise dust exposure and health risks
- Maintain equipment longevity
- Recover valuable product for reuse
- Meet regulatory standards and reduce environmental impact
Grydale Mobile Dust Collectors. Configuration Options.
Mobile dust collectors are available with a range of air volumes, mobility and power options, to suit a wide range of industrial applications and site conditions.
Grydale mobile dust collectors can be easily positioned on site and have a compact space-saving design. Skid mounted units can be moved using cranes or castor wheels. Alternatively track units are self-propelled to move into position when required and moved out of position when not in use.
Single air intakes can be used to extract dust from a single source or multiple side air intakes can be used to extract dust from multiple sources simultaneously.
Air Volume Options:
6m3/s (12,000 CFM) – 60m3/s (125,000 CFM)
Grydale manufacture the largest air volume mobile dust collector currently available on the market.
Power Options:
Diesel
Electric (415V and 1000V)
