Why Rent a Mobile Dust Collector?

When tackling industrial projects like mine shutdowns, tunnelling, or construction, managing airborne dust is crucial for worker health and safety, equipment longevity, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Mobile Dust Collectors provide an efficient, flexible, and cost-effective solution for a wide range of industrial applications. But what’s involved in renting a mobile dust collection equipment?

Before renting, consider:

  • Dust Source – How much dust is being generating?
  • Type of Dust – Is it hazardous (e.g., silica, metal, or combustible dust)?
  • Airflow Requirements – What m3/s (cubic metres per second) or CFM (cubic feet per minute) do you need to effectively capture the dust and maintain required air flow?
  • Mobility Needs – Does the unit need to move alongside dust source, or repositioned at different parts of processing operation? Does the unit need to be positioned within a confined space?

Discussing these factors will ensure you get the right equipment for the job.

Rental units come in different configurations, including:

  • Air Volume
  • Power
  • Mobility

Most rental units are designed for quick deployment, but key setup steps include:

  • Positioning the Collector – Placing it to ensure optimal dust capture.
  • Connecting Ducting – Ensuring proper airflow and efficiency.
  • Dust Source Shrouds – Do dust sources need to be contained with a shroud to support efficient capture?
  • Power and Fuel Requirements – units are available with diesel, electric or hybrid powered units.
  • Filter Selection and Maintenance – it is important to select the right filters for the dust type, know when they require changing, and what safety measures need to be in place.

Once the project is complete, the following need to be undertaken:

  • Cleaning & Inspecting the Unit
  • Removing & Disposing of Filters Properly
  • Coordinating Demobilisation from Site – for non-self-propelled units this will involve the use of forklifts or cranes.
